DNS problems
I am running SBS with Exchange and I am having some DNS problems. It just started a few weeks ago. We run SharePoint Server on another 2003 server with many virtual sites. People out side can only access these site if I go to the SPS server and repair the network connection. In the event log I have the error:
The DNS server timed out attempting an Active Directory service operation on DC=acct1,DC=AmyxDL.local,c n=Microsof tDNS,DC=Do mainDnsZon es,DC=Amyx DL,DC=loca l. Check Active Directory to see that it is functioning properly. The event data contains the error.
For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
Once again you go to the Microsoft link and it tells you very little. I checked on the event # 4016 and found this:
4016
MessageId=4016 Severity=Error SymbolicName=DNS_EVENT_DS_ LDAP_TIMEO UT
The DNS server timed out attempting an Active Directory service operation on %1. Check Active Directory to see that it is functioning properly. The event data contains the error. Caching problems
Should I clear the cache??
Thanks for the help

Have not changed or added anything. All the servers have been up and running for 2yrs. This problem just started a few weeks ago.

I will give it a try.
Did you add your additional server to the SBS network according to the prescribed method? Generally the failure to follow this procedure is the cause for DNS issues. Please see: http://blogs.technet.com/sbs/archive/2006/02/16/419784.aspx
