The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Access Denied.  Unable to Connect

Asked by peparsons in SBS Small Business Server

There are two workstations: conveyancing05 and conveyancing06.  They are on an SBS 2003 network.  They definitely have connectivity with the network.  conveyancing05 has an HP LaserJet 1200 PCL installed and shares this to the other users.  conveyancing06 uses this printer as well.  All of a sudden, today when conveyancing06 was switched on, the user could not print.  They had turned on conveyancing05 (but I don't know in which order).  I tried printing on conveyancing05 and some error message was given.  I restarted the PC and it could now print.  "Easy!" I thought.  conveyancing06 could still not print.  I restarted that PC.  No change.  It just shows "Access Denied.  Unable to Connect." against the printer name.  I have deleted the printer from conveyancing05 (the server) and reinstalled it using the XP drivers.  It prints fine but it simply is not sharing it to the network.  When I tried to add the printer on conveyancing06, the Browse for printers allowed me to see the printers on all the other PCs but not conveyancing05.  If I type in the pathname for the printer, it asks for a username and password.  What password am I supposed to use?  Whatever I have used (including local administrator) results in the message " Windows cannot connect to the printer.  Operation could not be completed."
When I look at the security on the printer, it all seems to look OK.  For the heck of it I gave all priviledges to Everyone.  No change.

Does anyone know the answer?

Thank you

PS I didn't really know what the appropriate section of EE would be for this question.
