To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution.   • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. SBS backup error 0x80070458

Have recently had problems with backup, getting this in the SBS backup logs:

InventoryNtmsLibrary(NtmsInventoryOmid) succeeded.
Identify Media completed
EnumerateNtmsObject(NTMS_PHYSICAL_MEDIA) succeeded.
Will enumerate on 0 media types found.
GetNtmsObjectInformation(NtmsLibraryInfo) succeeded.
Found an enabled library.
InventoryNtmsLibrary(NtmsInventoryOmid) succeeded.
Identify Media completed
EnumerateNtmsObject(NTMS_PHYSICAL_MEDIA) succeeded.
Will enumerate on 0 media types found.
Unable to detect tape drive or tape media.
GetTapeMediaPoolName failed. (0x80070458)
GetBackupDestination failed. (0x80070458)
LaunchNTBackup failed. (0x80070458)
NTBackup finished the backup with errors.

Backup error finished with error code 0X80070458.


It seems no changes made to server, backup just started to fail. Was able to create a job in NTBackup manually and schedule this and it runs with no problems, just SBS backup always failing with this error. Have tried the suggestions from the MS URL which didn't resolve the issue.Start Free Trial
