We are running SBS 2003 on an IBM X236 series server. Every so often (the duration will rnage between a few days and a few weeks) I received a lanmanserver service is Stopped alert via e-mail. Once I receive this, the machine locks all inbound file, RAS, web and Exchange connections. Power cycling the server fixes the problem until the next time it appears. I can't seem to find any KB articles about this particular issue.
When i receive the e-mail alert, the following event is logged in the system log:
