The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Can POP3 send via SBS server which already has Exchange set up?

Asked by Fritters in SBS Small Business Server

Tags: from, mail, pop3, server

I have an domain name x.com and have all emails to that domain sent to my SBS server 2003 here with Outlook as the clients.  I want to get a second domain name Y.net and have separate mail accounts on the users computers so that the Y.net domain name shows as the sending email account.

Emails sent TO the new person@y.net get to the users mailbox.  But if I try to set up a second exchange account, Outlook tells me "only one Exchange account used".  I see that SBS can act as a POP3 server but I'm not sure what to put as the POP3 incoming email address or the SMTP outgoing address in the new account dialog.  Can I do this?  Or is there some other way that my SMS can send "from" this new Y.net domain name?

When I put "mail.x.com" in both POP3 and SMTP fields and try to send a test, I get:
"Log on to incoming mail server (POP3)  The specified serer was found, but there was no response from the server. Please verify that the port and SSL information is correct"  (I don't have SSL enabled.)
"Find incoming mail server (POP3): Outlook could not connect to the incoming mail server.  The problem could be the server name or port..."

Help please.
