Internet connection wizard problem - can't connect to the INternet

Hello

this is my first time installing SBS on my home office server, I've been unable to connect to the internet, and the Internet Connection Wizard is not very helpful. Do you guys have any idea hot to set up my Internet connection, I have 2Wire router/modem, static IPs, why it's not as straight forward as in W2k3?

try to start dhcp from service. what happend when you from server manager click start to internet.

It will take more information to figure out what's wrong...but once you get it working, you'll cry the next time you have to manually configure everything on a non-SBS server.

And BTW, you can manually configure everything if you want to, you don't *have* to use the wizards.  

So...Are you using 1 Nic or 2, ISA or not?  Is Internet access working from the server, but not the workstations, or not even from the server?  What settings do you have for the server if you type ipconfig /all from a DOS prompt?

The CEICW is actually VERY helpful... you just need to read the very last screen of the wizard which tells you where the log files are located so that you can review the exact error message that you got.

To give you a hand, though... the log files are at: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Windows Small Business Server\Support\icwlog.txt

And I'll agree with DanKoster that you'll start loving the wizards once you get used to them... however I'd totally disagree with him about the fact that you actually CAN manually configure things on an SBS.  The CEICW itself issues over 500 instructions and is a fairly complex script.  The reason it's not as simple as a standard Server 2003 is because on a standard Server you would never combine all of the services and components that are included with SBS.  In order to take advantage of the economy of having all of these things together, you have to make sure that everything is configured in a synchronized manner... failure to do so would certainly break one thing or another.  

SBS is also a product that really needs to be configured and deployed as it was designed to be.  This means... you need to read the manual and follow the instructions on how to do things with SBS.
