The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

DNS Problems in SBS 2003.

DNS Problems in SBS 2003.

We are currently having trouble accessing outside webpages. Some load and some load after multiple refreshes in the Internet Explorer. This is common for the server and all 5 desktops on XP Pro.  

I have assumed it has to do with the DNS settings.  Many sites like Microsoft.com will not even load and I get the all too familiar "The page cannot be displayed" error page. with nslookup I can get a return for some sites but it often takes 3-4 attempts with 2 second timeouts on each.

So whatever solution I get I need to solve the webpage loading speed and be able to access all sites. We have the sbs box running as a stand alone server so all functions are active on one system... We have tried to revise the DNS settings a few times with the Wizard so nothing "Custom" has been tried yet but this worked out of the box before we had to do a fresh re-install from a virus disaster.. Though it was working for about 3 days before this problem appeared.  Many updates since then as well...

We also managed to loose our "companyweb" in the process so something else may be wrong as well but this is what we are "Assuming" is the problem at this time. Though IIS shut down unexpededly on us a few times but seems to be running fine now.
