Question

server service fails.

Asked by: afalk

I have a SBS 2003 R2 system that the server service wants to die randomly.  I can restart it manually but the automatic restart after failure does not seem to work.  I looked in the system log and found this
The Server service terminated with the following error:
Access is denied.

I have read the posts saying to reinstall sp1 but I am not sure if they apply to a R2 install.

I am so sorry that I didn't get back to you on this last week... it's been completely hectic for me lately.

At any rate, in reviewing your issue again, if the automatic restart isn't working... I would focus on this being a hardware issue and run diagnostics on your motherboard.  If you have a Dell or HP server, their built-in diags should work fine for that.

the auto restart did not work and the mother board and hardware passes all test.  I reentered the administrator password in the password and keys area and have not had the problem since.  it has been a couple of weeks so I am holding my breath.
