The Solution Rating System
|
|
| With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating. - The Grade of the Solution
- The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
- The Number of Author and Expert Comments
- The Number of Experts Contributing
- The Feedback of the Community
Your Input Matters Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site. If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support. Thank you! |

Asked by robd11 in SBS Small Business Server, Windows 2003 Server, Operating Systems Miscellaneous
Today attempted an upgrade from Windows Server 2003 Std. SP2 to Small Business Server 2003 R2 on a Dell Power Edge 2600 server. After following the recommened prep (hardware updates, disable antivirus, install all MS updates) I put in the SBS 2003 disk and started the install. Right away I got an error message that said something like 'this version version is older than the current version' without any prompt the server rebooted and the setup process began. I picked the correct partition for the install and went through the rest of the install without issue (other than some prompts for specific file locations).
When the install completed the system rebooted with the boot prompt for both Server 2003 AND SBS 2003. When booting into SBS 2003 it did not appear that the install had fully completed, the 'compete setup' icon was still on the desktop, the to do list won't load (blank) and none of the programs came over etc.
When I boot into Server 2003 mode all tests ok and seems as it did before however because for the two installs the free space on the system partition is quite low (700 MB). I now have a Windows and Windows.0 on the system drive.
How do best resoIve this situation of a dual boot server with the intended upgrade to SBS 2003 R2 not working?
Thanks.
