WSUS 3.0--Clients Can't Connect
I've done everything I know how and can't get a single client to connect to my WSUS 3.0 installation. PLEASE READ what I've done so far so as not to offer the same suggestions.
My setup is WSUS 3.0 / Server 2003 SP2 / All XP Clients and another Server 2003 server
Here's what I've done so far:
1) turned off firewalls on both client and wsus server
2) created group policy object for WSUS and configured it to point clients back to http://server:8530--initially when i installed I installed on port 80 but i changed this to port 8530 using the wsusutil.exe tool--clients couldn't connect either way. i configured group policy as specified by microsoft.
3) verified that clients are recieving group policy--when opening Automatic Updates on client machines, the options are correctly greyed out and i can see that the correct times i set to check for updates have been downloaded from GPO.
4) I've used this command a million times to no avail: wuauclt.exe /resetauthorization /detectnow
5) I can't access wsus in IE by going here: http://server:8530 -- but since this is WSUS v3.0 (not 2.0) and you administer it through a console window then is this to be expected?
so still, not one single client is connecting. I'm kind of at my wits end. If you have any suggestions after reading what i've already tried, please help :-)
