Hi Experts,
I have another strange problem with a SBS 2000 server. About 3 weeks ago I applied several Microsoft security patches to the server. Since then I have had 2 unusual problems.
The server will not shutdown or restart. It goes through the normal shutdown/restart processes (i.e. saving settings, windows shutting down that type processes), but all dialogue boxes go away and the shutdown/restart process stops at a blue screen (not the BSOD). The mouse pointer is visible and I can move it around, but the only way to get it shutdown/restart is to hit the power button. I have left it shutting down over night (~11 hours) and it never does. My thought is there is some process that is hanging, but not sure I to find it.
The other problem is that after the server has been up for a little while it stops allowing me to remote into it. It still allows me to connect to the network (meaning I can dial in and get authenticated) and everything else works.
I have searched every where trying to find an answer, but no luck. Do you guys have some insight?
Thanks,
Paul
