backup cals without mmc

i have come into a SBS site that has crashed due to power problems. The SBS has all sorts of problems with missing DLL's and the like. I have also found out that they do not use Exchange it is just a glorified fileserver because they kept playing with it until they killed most of it.
That said i have explained that it is not worth the time to try to repair such a buggy os and we are simply starting again.
The only thing that i need to recover from the OS is the CAL's. However it will not run an MMC so gui is out. Is there a CLI to export/backup the CAL's.

i know about "stop the License Logging Service, rename licstr.cpa to licstr.cpa.old, then copy autolicstr.cpa to licstr.cpa." but the problem is autolicstr.cpa does not exist in either the old HDD or the new one. not sure why as this is a well doco'd meathod (we have SBS r1 standard)

Any help greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Andrew
