The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Enforcing password policy the sequel

Hi,
I'm trying to enforce a password policy at work, but it is not working.
I set it first in default domain policy, ran gpupdate, even rebooted, nothing.
Outside IT person came in and said do it through Domain security Policy, did this, the same; nothing. That only shows it as set under default domain policy.
Times moved on now, the above was a month ago. Let me tell you what happened today.

I set the password policy in both 'default domain policy' and 'Small Business Server Domain Password Policy'
Ran gpupdate, Nothing happened. However a few miinutes I was tidying up group membership under users and I removed the 'Mobile User' group from our remote offices; I dont believe they needed it. Suddenly I get calls from them saying they're needing to change passwords. They changed their passwords and all is well including mapped drives. Great so far, but it is not happening for the domain users at head office where the SBS 2003 server is. BTW, the remote offices are not in the domain.
Now, the other intersting bit, someone at head office rebooted their machine and were asked to change their password.
This did not happen for other people when they rebooted. I went into that person's account and noticed she had 'Internet Users' in her account. I have removed it for now.
Have you any idea why the password policy is not working for all the other members of the domain and why, if it is not a coincidence, has it worked for members who were removed from 'Mobile Users' and the one person who had 'internet Users' in her members of list?
Any help much appreciated.
John
