SBS 2003 Premium R2 Event ID 6008 System Shutdown Unexpected

I have a BRAND NEW PowerEdge 1900 w/ SBS2003 Premium R2.  The server is running Exchange as well.  It will randomly restart at least twice a week sometimes more.  I know its not automatic updates doing it because im sure that would be properly logged.  All i get in the event log is:  The previous system shutdown at 8:21:34 AM on 3/11/2008 was unexpected.  I was installing something on the server once and it just completely went down like someone pulled the plug and it just restarted.....scared the hell outta me too.  I eliminated the UPS completely and plugged it into the wall too.  Still same story.

I ran Dell's hardware diag and came up with nothing.  Even a DSET and the tech i was working with said nothing was revealed.  The tech guy doesnt know what else to suggest.  I have a feeling its the power supply and have a feeling not every power failure would show up on DSET reports if its just shorting out, etc.

No software was installed just MS updates.  Its a file server basically with exchange.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!

Hi,

I had the same issue. There is a setting you need to disable.

2003 SBS have this option enabled by default.

any idea what the setting is?

why would there be a setting enabled to cause this?

thanks for your quick reply.
Xchganging, I have that enabled on my server but was a year ago, i' trying to remember... bear with me just a minute
oh okay no problem.

thanks again.
Richammond:

The first link refers to another domain controller, etc....not the case here at all :(  Besides when that is the issue it is clearly stated in the system event viewer.

The second link refers to slow restarts due to clearing page file, certain drivers, etc...this is restarting randomly at different times and different days of the week.

I've looked at many posts about this issue but nothing seems to be the exactly same as what im experiencing.
