I am getting the following error "MSDEWriter" has reported an error 0x800423f4 when I try to do a backup using NTbackup. This was working just fine a couple of weeks ago. I think some of the new security updates from Microsoft might have killed again as I have had this problem recently in the past. Last time it turned out I was missing a dll file and needed to register this again.

This server is a Small Business Server 2003 which is a PDC. I have looked through and checked the hotfixes but as far as I can tell this is good to go. No SQL server (as far as I can tell other then what is needed for Exchange or what ever is on SBS). Server is updated often using a WSUS server. It does have SP2 on it. Any ideas on what to look for regarding missing DLL's or anything like that may have been messed up from updates?

The funny thing is if I run this manually in my scheduled tasks it works fine. Not sure what else to look at.Start Free Trial
