The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Exchange Server 2003 - Force to always send using DNS/Smart Host

Asked by tvacc in SBS Small Business Server, Exchange Email Server, Windows 2003 Server

Tags: , ,

Here's my problem: we're in the middle of a migration of regular Outlook w/PST files to Exchange Server 2003(as part of SBS 2003). We're moving people over one by one and some people are out of the office and cannot be reached in the immediate future. When the people on exchange server send to people still using PST files (all using the same <@domainname.com>, they get recipient cannot be found errors. We're using the pop connector for now until everyone is moved over (at which points we're having the mail delivered directly to the server).

The following recipient(s) cannot be reached:
      <theuser>@<domainname>.com on 3/29/2008 11:22 AM
The e-mail account does not exist at the organization this message was sent to.  Check the e-mail address, or contact the recipient directly to find out the correct address.
            <<domainname>.com #5.1.1>

Anyway, it's due to Exchange Server delivering mail within it's system without sending it out over the internet when it realizes it's the same domain. In the SBS 2003 connect to the internet wizard I had originally put <domainname.com> as the domain name when it asked what it is for their organization. I then thought if I left that line blank it would always send mail over the internet. That's not the case.

So anyway, how can I have exchange server always deliver using DNS/Smart Host instead of trying to deliver mail directly to mailboxes within the system?Start Free Trial
