UPHClean has not fixed the problem, i've run out of ideas and formating the notebook seems to be my only solution.

Browse All TopicsWe are running a Windows SBS 2003 R2 domain with Windows XP SP2 clients. Roaming profiles have been enabled, configured and working on all PC's for the last six months without any issues. In the last week or so we have one Dell notebook which will not save changes to a profile for any user back to the server. This notebook is the only notebook with this issue. Logging onto other PC's on the domain it is all working fine. I have completed the following:-
1. dis-joined notebook from domain and removed from active directory and then re-joined to domain
2. tried several users accounts
3. no event logs reported
4. main user has local and local in system advanced profile properties
5. another users profile downloads profile but will not save profile to server (roaming and roaming in system advanced profile properties)
6. no error messages reported
I have run out of ideas and i am thinking of rebuilding the notebook with Windows XP etc.

jstpierre is correct if it has a Nvidia video card look for a updated driver. I had the same problem with 4 Dell Latitude 830s. The roaming profile would save correctly using safe mode w/networking. I eliminated other startup programs with no luck. Then I updated the driver for the Nvidia Quadro NVS 140M video card with the latest driver on the Dell support web site (released 3/26/08) and the roaming profile saves fine. This appears to be a problem with the Nvidia software or driver. Possibly even the OEM image since it seems to occur mostly on Dells.

UPHClean has been talked about many times in helping for situations such as this. I would give this Microsoft tool a try.
