Recovering a user mailbox

I deleted a user (bonehead move) and now I need to restore the mailbox to get a .pst file.  I have run the mailbox recovery wizard and I cannot seem to get anywhere.  Here is what I have done.

1) I created a new user with the same login name and tried reconnecting it to that.  Fail
2) I created a different user to resolve conflicts.  Fail.

The strange thing is that when I go to connect the mailbox to the user, I am not getting the user in a list.  I only get a few users that do not have mailboxes set.  My question then is, do I need to go through ADUC and make a user with no mailbox and then attach this mailbox to that user?  It appears that setting them up using the manage my server option autimatically creates a mailbox, renering the tool useless.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.Start Free Trial
