Cannot view or Access Website on Server

Asked by Reggie007 in SBS Small Business Server, Microsoft IIS Web Server

Our website has been running fine for a few months now on the SBS 2003 Server. I haven't checked the last week or so (but no compaints so I can assume it was until tonight).

I simply up loaded a new Index file and went to IIS to go browse the site to see if all was running okay. When trying to browse for the first time ever it asked to enter a Logon & password...I have done this tons of times and this has never happened. Even when entering the right Admin Logon & Password it regarded them as invalid. I then "stopped the website" and restarted it and went to browse again and it asked me to login again. Again it didn't accept the password and when I cancelled the pop-up it had the following error...

You do not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials that you supplied.

Please try the following:

Contact the Web site administrator if you believe you should be able to view this directory or page.
Click the Refresh button to try again with different credentials.
HTTP Error 401.1 - Unauthorized: Access is denied due to invalid credentials.
Internet Information Services (IIS)

I've followed some threads to do with Anon access and all seems okay in the IIS settings (afterall I haven't changed anything on this sever for at least a few weeks and as far as I know nobody else has). I then logged into the website from a remote machine and all that pops up is a entry box asking fro a User Name & Password.

At this point, if I enter Admin credentials it will go to the website, but if I click cancel (as any visitor to our site would do), it has the following error

"You do not have permission to view this directory or page due to the access control list (ACL) that is configured for this resource on the Web server. "

Any help would be greatly appreciated
