The system is an SBS Server 2003 with Exchange, and seems to be usually reliable. I have recently been suspicious that a few expected emails haven't been received, even though lots still are.
Emails go to our ISP (BTCONNECT) and are collected every 15mins by the server, and then forwarded to the desk. My account receives any undeliverables. I can also visit the BT site online to see what is sitting there ready to be picked up.
So today I did some monitoring, the emails arrive at BT (viewable online) at random times, get picked up and deleted by the server, then get sent to the desk. However, whilst watching, one wasn't. It was listed at BT (on its own), I waited ten minutes, checked again and it been deleted ... so presumably been dealt with by the server ... but it never turned up on the desk.
I've checked on Message Tracking Centre, and its not mentioned at all.
Any clues?
