We have a customer that has a Windows 2003 SBS that they use for a domain controller and a Windows Server 2003 Standard box that they use for a terminal server. They called saying all their files were gone from their remote desktops. We noticed that now, when they open up the Remote Desktop Connection icon and use the terminal server's IP, it pop's up a log-in box with the terminal server's name, a slash, and then the username. So, we know the reason they say their files are gone because they are logging into a local account on the terminal server...
For example, now if someone clicks on the Remote Desktop Connection with username bob, it would be:
<ts-name>\bob
We think before they just used their domain username so the box just said
bob
and would use the domain user account (and get their proper mapped drives).
We've also noted that no domain user can get into the terminal server unless their user is a domain admin...
Anyone have any suggestions or ideas about how we can get it not to log onto the terminal sever's local profiles by default and how we can let them log into the terminal server without being a domain admin?
