How did you change the ip? Sounds like you didn't do it right. Your mx record should point to a child domain ie mail.yourdomain.com. You then point mail.yourdomain.com to your static ip from comcast. The thing with comcast and those is they generaly give you 2 static ip address with a single static ip order. You will have a gateway static ip which is the smc router and then a second static ip that you can assign to your router that you would put behind it. You then set the smcs static ip(external wan ip) as the gateway and the subnet is 255.255.255.254 if I remember right. You might want to make sure you didn't forward your info to that second static ip that you are not using.
I'm guessing you opened 25 from your combo router modem. Can you telnet to the exchange server via the ip address?
Don't use NSLookup, instead use www.mxtoolbox.com to review the status of your MX Record.
If it finds your server, then you can review the router's configuration.

did you get a new IP address?
You will have to change your MX record to point to the new comcast ip.
Also I assume you already are forwarding port 25 to the SBS.
