Recover messages from Outlook deleted items

Dear All,
I have exchange 2000 in my office. I dont have offline storage here. All users have outlook 2000. One of the users deleted all his mails in the inbox and also deleted it from deleted items. This happened today. the mail retention days is '0'. I have taken a backup of information store today itself, So i hope i have the deleted mails still in the information store. I have also increased the mail retention days to 7.

I did the following. i did the registry hack to recover deleted items from outlook but I cannot seem to find any mails. When I say 'recover deleted items' within outlook, i get a blank pop up. What is the best way to recover these mails. I know that I have to setup windows 2000 and exchange 2000 on a different pc. Do I have to keep the same name for windows server as well as exchange server as is originally when i do a fresh install for them. Is there any other easier way to recover the mail.
