The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. NTBackup failing: "waiting to retry shadow copy"

Hi there,

Just installed a brand new dell SBS 2003 server. I have been setting up backup jobs directly with NT Backup (rather than using the SBS wizard) and they have been working perfectly all week. They backup to a dell RD1000 SATA disk cartrdige device.

As of today the backups are failing - and constantly reporting that its "waiting to retry shadow copy". I checked on the shadow copy service and it had stopped. I have restarted it but the message is still appearing. This seems to coincide with my installing the utility for the RD1000 device (just diagnostics and software to make the button on the front function). I have tried uninstalling it but it makes no difference.

I am really struggling because I only have remote access to the machine and I cannot reboot as there is some important temperature logging software on there.
