Cant access sharepoint companyweb from client machines

Router is handing out addresses, clients cannot get to companyweb.  The server is static 192.168.1.x, with dns as 201.x.x.x and 216.x.x.x.  Clients are getting ips in 192.168.1.x as well and dns are 192.168.1.x.  Is it the dns that is causing the problem?  What is the ideal configuration for the clients that are part of the domain to access the companyweb?  Any info is greatly appreciated.
