Clients take forever to find server when server firewall is enabled

Asked by seancaddell in SBS Small Business Server

Hi All,

I have set up a small business server with 4 client pcs.

If the server firewall is enabled then the clients take a very long time to find the server to log on, they also take a long time to log in and some shares are not readily available. Obviously the firewall is very important so I need urgent help to resolve this one.

DHCP is performed by a netgear router. The server IP is static.

Do I need to add an entry in the client host files?

Help appreciated as always.Start Free Trial
