The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Creating PPTP tunnel between SBS and Windows Server 2003

Asked by kirk_lesser in SBS Small Business Server, Virtual Private Networking (VPN), Windows 2003 Server

I have two sites..

1) SBS 2003 SP2 with a D-Link 804 HV in front of it, internal 192.168.13.X network.

2) Windows Server 2003 SP2 with a Linksys WRT54GL in front of it, internal 192.168.14.x network.

I setup VPN to go to both of them and as a client I can connect.

However, I cannot seem to set up a PPTP tunnel between them.

I have set static routes on each router to point to the internal server when trying to route to the other network (i.e. on the SBS side, anything going to 192.168.14.x points to 192.168.13.12 for its gateway.

I have setup static routes on each side for them to point to the demand dialing (always on) if it is going to the other network.

I am using administrator and its associated password to connect. I cannot seem to set the SBS server to use demand dialing for PPTP, only PPoE, even when I turn off the demand and inbound/outbound for PPoE in RRAS and turn it on for PPTP.

What am I missing here? Is this even possible? I will be getting beefier routers but need to get the skeleton part of this setup for now.
