The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Best way to set up two SBS2003 servers on same network infrastructure

Asked by slater27 in SBS Small Business Server

Tags: , ,

I have an existing SBS2003 server on a small home based office LAN. The LAN is using the 192.168.2.x address range with the ADSL router set at 10.0.0.1.

The SBS2003 server has two network cards. Once assigned to the 10.0.0.1 adsl router and the other set to 192.168.2.8 as the server ip. 5 other pcs are all getting served IP addresses from the server in the 192.168.2.x range.

Now I want to add a second SBS2003 server for a separate business which will eventually be relocated into alternative office space. I want to be able to switch the client pc's manually from one server to the other. Another expert on here provided links to a desktop tool that will do this (ie: Switches ip address info and domain without having to go into network settings to do so).

So my question is given this setup what IP should I assign to the 2nd SBS server.  I gather I will have DNS problems if on the same subnet? Both servers will need to go through the 10.0.0.1 adsl router for internet access and the remainder of the CAT5 cabling and client pcs will be effectively shared by both servers.Start Free Trial
