The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Using NTBackup to backup SBS2003

Asked by Djrobluv in SBS Small Business Server, Exchange Email Server, Backup & Restore Software

I'm running a SBS2003 Server with Exchange. I want to know the proper way to backup this system using NTBackup. I have read several internet posts about backing up the System State separate from the Exchange Databases. So I have separate jobs for the System State and Microsoft Exchange. I take it when the Exchange backup runs the transaction logs are backed up also. Now I guess my confusion is backing up the rest of the system. Operating System Files, Program Files and the Inetpub directory. I know Exchange also uses this directory for Outlook Web Access. Will there be a problem with backing up this directory when I do a full backup? Meaning the OS, Program Files etc. Seem as though I will need to schedule 3 backups.

1. System State
2. Exchange
3. Full System Backup (Excluding the C:\Program Files\Exchsrvr folder and E:\Exchsrvr Folder)

Is this the proper way of backing up SBS2003 running Exchange. An please do not supply me with Microsoft's KB articles. I read them all and I can't find any breakdown of how it's suppose to be done. I just don't want to clobber Exchange and cause more work for myself.
