Hi All,
Tryign to connect a new machine with new user account and new email account to a client using SBS Premium 2003 running its Exchange using a POP3 Connector. Shared User Directory is C:/DATA.
Used SBS wizard under Server Management to create a user techsupport that also created an Exchange mailbox and also created a Computer, which is called techsupport01. ** I did have error "home folder could not be created sbs 2003" until I re-created c:\Users as a shared folder on the SBS box. Then user and computer account created OK.
Client uses POP3 connector, so in Exchange System Manager under managing POP3 connector created techsupport POP3 account.
On new (XP PRO) machine and within browser went to
https:/(server)/connectcomputer and was able to setup machine to connect with techsupport and use computer as techsuport01. Re-booted machine and am able to connect to network. Browser works and can also browse to server's shared folders.
Reasonable so far. Problem stumping me is when trying to start and setup MS Outlook. If I go to Control Panel, Mail, Setup Email Accounts, Add a new account, MS Exchange Server, I then get to enter the server name and user name BUT when I click next get error message:
"The account you have added is not fully configure. it might not work properly until re-configured correctly."
If I say OK to that am left with the Exchange Server Settings prompt. If I try either techsupport or techsupport@(server).com.a
u and then click on Check name I get error message:
"There was an error locating one of the items needed to complete this operation. It might have been deleted."
WTF? What else needs to be done to get this new account created so that Outlook on the new machine will use Exchange?
Thanx for any help/suggestions
