Cannot install / reinstall Sharepoint CompanyWeb on SBS 2003 Pease Help!

I had a problem with a Sharepoint Config database and tried a number of options to bring it back to life. At this point I am not sure it is even possible, but the more important issue is that I cannot get the Sharepoint Services 2.0 CompanyWeb default site to work AT ALL! I have even uninstalled/reinstalled, used the SBS 2003 setup disc to reinstall the Intranet feature, and a few other combinations including installing the latest updates for WSS.
I am wondering if there could be a problem with the MSDE SQL installation for Sharepoint. How do I go about starting from scratch to just get a basic default WSS 2.0 CompanyWeb working again?
