The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Folders Missing from Inbox in OWA 2003

Asked by InterMountainMgmt in SBS Small Business Server

Tags: , , ,

Specs: Front-end Server
 - SBS 2003 R2 running Exchange and OWA;
 - Using Backup Exec 11d with updates applied

History: Recent failures of backup jobs due to "inconsistencies" in the Exchange mail store prompted me to run a hard repair on the store, defrag with eseutil, and check with isinteg (this past weekend).  This has been an ongoing problem and the hard repair had come down to being the only solution.  All went well, though, and isinteg reported 0 errors on the second run.  Everything came back up with no problem, except that one user doesn't have any of the folders she created in her Inbox anymore, and all her old messages are gone.

Oddly, she reported the missing folders to me on Friday, prior to the hard repair.  But with no recent successful backups because of the inconsistencies, I was not able to restore her mailbox at that time.  She also just started using a new desktop that has Outlook set up for POP access, but I checked the pst file there and it's empty also.  Prior to using the desktop, she had been accessing her e-mail solely through OWA, so all her folders and messages should have been on the server.

I have tried clearing the Temp Internet Files on her machine, hoping it was simply a caching issue, but no luck.  Any ideas as to where her folders and messages went, and if there is any way to get them back, would be most appreciated.  I'm not holding out much hope at this time, but thought I'd give EE a shot just in case someone knows a nifty trick I'm overlooking.

Thanks,
