When I check the Event viewer, I'm not sure which category I should be looking in. I have several "errors" in several different categories. I also have lots of "warnings" in different categories. I'm not sure which errors are actually causing the message and have to be dealt with. Some of the errors I think I understand and they don't really affect the operation of the server. How can I list them all to get advice on what should be done about each?

Performance Logs never starts - you can happily ignore this.
Windows Firewall is disabled on most of my SBS boxes (customers). Do you have a single NIC server or a dual NIC server?

Check the event logs for errors relating to the last two items (as you say you are) and post back anything found please.

Alan,
Process of elimination. I turned off all three that were automatic and not started. Message went away.
Turned on Firewall and got message. Turned it off and turned on Sharepoint and message is gone. Turned on Performance logs, message still gone. Turned on Firewall again, message returned.
So it appears that Firewall service is the culprit in this case.
I have dual NIC's. I'm guessing that the Firewall service won't run because DHCP is running NAT. Correct me if I am wrong on this.

Sometimes services actually fail to start the first time they attempt to be started, but actually start again later and thus there is no problem.
If after a reboot you have services that are set to Automatic and they don't start, then these are the ones you need to troubleshoot and the errors relating to these in the event logs will guide you.
If you have a problem with a service, look at the event log and post here again if you need guidance.
