Change default filenames for Incoming/Sent Faxes SBS 2008

Using SBS 2008 built-in Fax Server to receive/send Faxes. Unfortunately, incoming Faxes get generic filenames like Fax00000000.tif, Fax00000001.tif

Outgoing Faxes are even uglier - seems like they pick up the SID of the user that sent the fax. Filenames are like this: S-1-5-21-63828383-1282411258-3402696831-1144$201ca1158515bb7.tif

Yikes!

Is there a way to change these to more user-friendly names?

Examples:
For incoming, the format could be 'FaxReceived_Month_Day_Year_01.tif
For outgoing, maybe FaxSent_Month_Day_Year_01_By_[username].tif

Anyone know where this data is stored and if it can be easily manipulated to supply more user-friendly filenames?

To the best of my knowledge there is no way to change these default file names.  The files can be renamed after receipt(sent) but this is a manual process.

the IDs are generated by the SBS to make sure every document filename is unique.

AFAIK, unfortunately, there is no such a way to customize the filename pattern.

according to my understanding to your requirements, you want to organize the fax files by date and time. this actually can be done by sorting the files in Windows Explorer. just use Details view, sort the files accordingly. the view can be saved therefore next time when you access the folder you can keep seeing the files in the way.

as for the prefixes such as "FaxSent", this can be done by giving a meaning name for the relevant folder.

as for username information, there is no such information stored in the target fax files in TIFF format. so i don't think this can be done neither.

Thanks for the input. The unfortunate answer is 'it can't be done' as you both stated. Guess we'll have to live with the unwieldy names...
