My WSUS 3.0 SP1 server running on SBS 2008 has stopped working. Many of the services will not start and I cannot open the WSUS console to administer. I have read somewhere that you are not supposed to change the default settings. I ran the best practices analyzer and it has indicated that the default settings have been modified so I suspect this to be the cause although i'm not certain of that. I am wondering if there is any way to repair or restore WSUS back to the default settings in order to fix this problem?

I spoke to soon. I have followed the article Cris Hanna has provided and all of my services are started successfully. However when I launch the WSUS console in step 4 I am unable to connect to the server. It tells me either the server maybe using another port or different Secure Sockets Layer setting. I am not connecting using SSL and have verified the port in IIS is indeed using port 80. I have tried connecting using both the name and ip address to no avail. Any thoughts?
I haven't done anything yet. I verified the required services were running and then verified the versiion of WSUS i was running in the add programs in control panel. From there it said to skip to step 4 to repair. The first step in step 4 is to open the WSUS console which I am unable to connect to my server when the console has been opened. I haven't done anything else yet.
