Browse All TopicsI am doing a new install of a dell server with SBS 2003. The model is a T300. I was having an issue loading the 1st disk. I would blue screen when installing devices. I called dell and the rep told me that my disks did not include SP2 and the new server models require it to install. The rep recommended slipstreaming the install disk, which worked until now. I finished the swing and the rest of the install and now I am unable to install SBS 2003 SP1 or BPA. The error I get is: KB885918 This update can only be install on Windows Small Business Server 2003. This update cannot be installed on your current OS.

they are separate. There is a Service pack for the small Business server potion of server 2003. Windows update will install SP2 for you but it doesn't always show Small Business Server Sp1. There is even a Microsoft kb on the best order to install them. There is a Sever 2003 SP1 and a Server 2003 SP2 and a Small Business server SP1, all of which need to be installed. You can skip over server 2003 SP1 if you already installed SP2. Small Business server SP1 still would have to be installed
Don't come on here asking for help if you're just going to argue with what I say without any explanation. The Microaoft website for SBS SP1 states that it includes SP1 for the Windows Server 2003 Operating System. Look for yourself. I am going to stop monitoring this question now. Good luck solving the problem with someone else's help.
Okay, lets clarify the issue here.
You need to be using a Disk1 that has "SBS SP1" installed on it. (This is separate from Windows Server 2003 SP1).
"I called dell and the rep told me that my disks did not include SP2 and the new server models require it to install. The rep recommended slipstreaming the install disk, which worked until now"
I don't know why it wouldn't still work. There is a method for doing this here: http://support.microsoft.c

Sorry I have not been as clear as I thought. I was running short on time. I have never seen this before. I ended up instaling SP2 for server 2003 and now when booting up i am propted to reactivate windows. When looking at the activation window I doesn't show a hardware ID to read to the microsoft rep. I try reentering the product key and it tells me its invalid. I think i'm going to end up doing a reload at this point. I'm out of ideas at this point and haven't found a solution. Thank you so much for the help.

You won't be able to install SP1 on a system that already has SP2 installed. What is BPA?
