Problem with SBS 2003 restore using NTbackup

I've had to do a full system restore from NTbackup on an SBS 2003 server.

I did the server installation, brought it up to SP2 as before, and choose to restore and C: (only drive) and system state. It restored the system state and asked for a reboot, now it's stuck on "network connections" for 30 mins.

Any ideas please.

this is almost certainly a DNS issue.  are you eventually able to get into the desktop?

can you verify that your primary NIC is pointing to itself and nowhere else for DNS?  do you have forwarders set up?

Disconnect the network cable and try to start without it.

glad this worked for you. when i first started in IT in 2003 and didn't yet get how DNS worked, i think i battled this for 6 months on several different machines.  now, one of the very first things i do is get DNS set up perfectly!  can't STAND the 'network connections' wait!
