Tricky,
How are your DNS zones setup? i.e. does you dns zone end in .com / .co.uk / .local etc? Where do your DNS root hints point to?
Main Topics
Browse All TopicsI am having a strange issue with MS SBS 2008 where after aproximately 24 hours some websites are no longer available. It would seem .com sites are ok, but .co.uk and a few others cannot be found.
I have found that clearing the DNS cache seems to solve the issue, although i havent found any issues with the dns settings.
Has anyone come across this issue before?
Regards
Will

Leakim971 - thanks for the thought, but have already checked the DNS log and there isnt anything there. I have now also changed the settings so it is going to carry out a simple DNS test every 12 hours, fingers crossed it may show something.
Raheem05 - I really am not that knowledgeable on setting up DNS correctly! But the forward zones have .local if that helps. I also checked through the settings and did notice that under the Forwarders tab in properties the remote dns servers were missing. This probably wasnt helping matters. I knew i shouldnt have trusted the wizard to configure it correctly!
I will monitor this over the next 24hrs and see how it goes.
In the mean time any other thoughts would be most welcome.

To all,
Thank you for you help but this issue seems to have been simply caused by the fact that the DNS server had not been correctly configured and was missing the ISP's DNS server settings, and thus the clients were not getting the right information.
To date (fingers crossed) the issue of intermittent internet hasnt not returned.
