Virtual memeory is defined as: 2046 to 4092

how much you want me to put @michel??

i was checking my running server ( production server) which
has 3GB of physical ram and virtual memory of 1536 to 3960

by: MichaelIanClaridgePosted on 2009-11-02 at 06:51:47ID: 25719831

Hey,

You can also check your available Virtual memory via the msinfo32 command:-

START>RUN>msinfo32

i'd always put the virtual memory figure as a static 2.5x the amount of ram you have i.e. 7680 to 7680.

Might be a lot of space to use but i've never had any problems and my systems run like lightning

by: MichaelIanClaridgePosted on 2009-11-02 at 06:54:39ID: 25719870

Well to put things into contex, my Windows 7 Build recomend 4591 MB of Virtual Memory.

More VM the better, but bear in mind the last post by madhusk and that you may have a memory leek caused by Shadow Copy.

Cheers

MC

It's the services.

you localte the service in services console.

Click Start-->Run--> type services.msc and press enter. Once you are in the services windows.

Locate the service and click on logon tab and change the account.

by: madhuskPosted on 2009-11-02 at 07:12:33ID: 25720045

Once you click on the logon tab.

change the account to local system account if it's already not set and also verify the microsoft patches are installed on your server, which I have mentioned in my previous post to fix the issues memory leak if any.

by: fosiul01Posted on 2009-11-02 at 07:14:26ID: 25720067

ok
according to that, the logon should be as Local System account

which i have . so that link does not need , is not it ??

by: madhuskPosted on 2009-11-02 at 07:59:05ID: 25720529

Ok no problem, you have all the latest patches. Please try the following steps to fix the issue.

1. Stop and Start the Backup Exec Job Engine Service, attempt the restore. If the restore is not successful, proceed with step 2.

Note: This step will cause the catalog index database synchronization process to recover the catalog index database.

2. Catalog the media, attempt the restore. If the restore is not successful, proceed with step 3.

3. Rename the catalogs folder (C:\Program Files\Symantec\BackupExec) to Catalogs_old and Restart Backup Exec Service's
and Re-catalog the media.

4.Retry Restore.

by: madhuskPosted on 2009-11-02 at 08:00:06ID: 25720537

you can find the Backup Exec Job Engine in services windows.

by: fosiul01Posted on 2009-11-02 at 08:25:00ID: 25720778

1) I added Virtual memory to 6000 to 7000 , still its failed

2)
1. Stop and Start the Backup Exec Job Engine Service, attempt the restore. If the restore is not successful, proceed with step 2.

: Still it failed

now i will do the step 3 of Delte the catalog , see if this helps

Please note : Here i am restoring from External Usb Hardrive, if that make any difference

by: fosiul01Posted on 2009-11-02 at 09:08:29ID: 25721229

3rd options failed aswell

For a test, i did restore on Directory(Small Directory) ( instead of mailbox) its restored properly , but its failling on Mailbox!!

i increased the virtual memory to 10000-12000

still its same
so it cant be vitual memory

if i click the link from Backup Exec Event log

i go to this site
http://www.symantec.com/business/support/knowledge_base_sli.jsp?umi=EvtID=V-79-57344-33858

also as i said ,

i am using External usb Hardirve

also , I can restore directory .

only Mailbox is failling!!

so why is that ??

by: madhuskPosted on 2009-11-02 at 09:25:04ID: 25721392

This error can occur because the disk where the backup is duplicated to is a disk with not enough data transfer performance to mount the Virtual Exchange Information Store. This can happen with USB disks or disk under heavy data load.  To resolve this issue, change the disk to a non-USB disk or another disk that is more idle.

by: fosiul01Posted on 2009-11-02 at 10:12:51ID: 25721901

i read abt that error but tht error abt when trying to catalog. But when i m trying to catalog its fine. Its abt restore.

by: fosiul01Posted on 2009-11-02 at 10:14:42ID: 25721928

also if ths the reason then no body would be able to able take backup on usb drive. Is nt it?
