SBS 2003 Premium to SBS 2008 Premium
Have a client that is currently running a SBS 2003 server. They are using SQL for their LoB application but they are not using Exchange. Their LoB application is forcing them to upgrade to 2008 SQL 64bit. They want to know if they can do an upgrade from their current version to the new version. Also it looks like 2008 SBS Premium requires 2 servers. Is this true even when you do not run Exchange? Can you do an in-place upgrade from 2003 32bit to 2008 64bit?

No in place upgrade options because it is an architecture change. You will need new hardware.
Premium is a two server deployment mainly because of the SQL requirement.
If you are using SBS 2003 quite happily then I would just get a new server and put SQL 2008 on to it and leave SBS alone. If you aren't using Exchange then that is the bulk of the feature set thrown away.
