This one "CRRASCommit::CommitEx returned ERROR 80004005"I had dealt with before when our clints apps were moved to a differnet drive , which is not the case.

CRRASCommit::CommitEx returned ERROR 80070420 This one well I am pulling my hair out.

I need VPN as I am closing down a remote office server and goinng to have the three client work remoly to the head office. Less administrative dutied in these challenging times.

Maybe the is a way to manually configure remote connections?
One other thing I notice is that in RWW the remote connection manager is not present , I am guessing that's added when the wizard completes correctly.

Regards
Eddie

Are you running the RRAS wizard or the SBS "Configure remote access" wizard, located under Server management / Internet and E-mail. The latter is what creates the remote connection client.

In addition, it would be helpful to know the following:

post the results of running IPCONFIG /all on the server

Do you have ISA installed on the server?  If not what is the firewall being used?

I used "Configure Remote Access" and the results were as shown above

ipconfig below . I am not using ISA but a simple Belkin router as the firewall which work on my other SBS box flawlessly . I am guessing this is not the issue as I have tried other routers also.

I would consider setting up the VPN manually, at least as a test. I always recommend using SBS wizards and doing so with the VPN has the advantage of creating the connection manager client which is simpler for the end user and automates addressing of name resolution problems from the client end.
To Do so follow the instructions below. The Link for server is for a server with 1 NIC, where you have 2 just:
-in the RRAS console under properties of the RRAS server, under the IP tab, "adapter" at the bottom is set to allow RAS to select, or the LAN adapter
-on the same screen, if using a static address pool (recommended) choose a subset of your existing LAN subnet

The basic server and client configurations can be found at the following sites with good detail:
-Server 2003 configuration:
http://www.lan-2-wan.com/vpns-RRAS-1nic.htm
-Windows XP client configuration:
http://www.lan-2-wan.com/vpns-XP-Client.htm
-You will also have to configure the router to forward the VPN traffic to the server. This is done by enabling on your router VPN or PPTP pass-through, and also forwarding port 1723 traffic to the server's IP. For details as to how to configure the port forwarding, click on the link for your router (assuming it is present) on the following page:
http://www.portforward.com/english/applications/port_forwarding/PPTP/PPTPindex.htm
-The users that are connecting to the VPN need to have allow access enabled under the dial-in tab of their profile in active directory
-The only other thing to remember is the subnet you use at the remote office needs to be different than the server end. For example if you are using 192.168.1.x at the office, the remote should be something like 192.168.2.x

-Once this is configured you can then use services similar to how you would on the local network. You will not be able to browse the network unless you have a WINS server installed. Also depending on your network configuration you may have problems connecting to devices by name, though this can usually be configured.. Using the IP address is less problematic such as \\192.168.1.111\SharenName.
-Nome resolution can be dealt with in many ways. See:
http://msmvps.com/blogs/robwill/archive/2008/05/10/vpn-client-name-resolution.aspx
However, the best method is to add the DNS suffix to the remote users VPN client configuration as described in the link above.

Robwill ,

That worked flawlessly and I have alo connected outlook using the http option . So that is all the bases covered . I do not have a wins server installed as it was causing sql 2005 some issues with our accounts package ,so that was removed, but the names are resolving funnily enough.
The wizard did not work before either sequal was installed or wins removed , I am guessing these did not cause the initail problems

I would still prefer if the wizard finished but this is an excellent workaround.
So thanks and if you have anymore ideas about the wizard great

Thank you

Glad to hear you are at least able to function. Though WINS is often used with VPN's, DNS is the better option and if set up correctly, as it appears to be in your case it should work well for you.
I am afraid I don't know why the wizard would fail, but I have seen other similar reports in the past. Cris is more familiar with the "inner workings" of SBS than I, and may have some ideas why it failed, but with SBS it can sometimes be a minor issue that seems totally unrelated and carried forward from an earlier problem.
