You cant use mailbox recovery to import the PST files.mailbox recovery is something that you use to reconnect the disconencted mailboxes.
So now does the users mailbox have anything in it.Whats the state of the exchange database is .
I've yet to use the Mailbox Recovery tool in Exchange 2003 but I think it might be what I need right now, not sure.
I exported all 25 mailboxes using Exmerge. I then unmounted the private and public mail stores and copied those priv1.edb & pub1.edb files to a backup hard drive. Then I wiped and rebuilt the server still using SBS2003. I've installed all Windows Updates that I can find.
Now, based on errors I'm getting while trying to re-import the PST files using either Exmerge or Outlook, I'd like to try using this Mailbox Recovery tool to see how easy that method is for getting all the users' Exchange content restored.
I tried to simply right-click the Mailbox Recovery tool to select the priv1.edb file but Exchange is prompting me to browse Active Directory objects instead of browsing the file system.
Does this mean that I have to somehow import that old priv1.edb file into AD somewho in order to then import it into Exchange? Thanks.

I think a software called OnTrack Power Controls would make your life MUCH easier.
It allows you to directly read the EDB file and the New target exchange server to transfer data directly.
Good LUCK!
