Setup a new SBS 2008 server and am confused about Folder Redirection settings - I have the Group Policy object set the way I want and I expected the SBS Console settings to be updated (to match the GP settings), but they're not.

Question - If the Folder Redirection Group Policy exists, why aren't the settings updated (reflected) in the SBS Console? Is this just a glitch that can be safely ignored? Or do I need to check off the redirection boxes in the SBS Console too? That doesn't seem to make sense, so if it is necessary please explain why.

SBS 2008 manages the Group Policy settings in the background. When you enable FR in the SBS Console, it will always redirect to the default SBS 2008 folder locations.
If you want different locations and settings on that GPO, then you will need to manually change the GPO and ignore what the SBS console says.

I did make some adjustments to the GPO settings (not redirecting music, etc.) and the GPO seems to bee applying fine. I assume that means I should just ignore the SBS Console view (that would make you think, since nothing is checked off, that no Folder Redirection is setup).
Is that correct?

Also, does anyone know if I DO check anything in the SBS Console, will it OVERWRITE the policy settings I setup manually in GP Management?

was the server migrated from SBS 2003 / R2 ? If yes then there are two policies 1 for the 2003 as well which would replicate after SBS 2008 was joined to the existing domain using the answer file during the sbs 2008 replication.
change the folder redirection and move the folder to the desired location on the network through the SBS console rathar then the GPO management. This should ideally reflect it in the folder redirection policy that is there by default.
