Setup and configure IMAP on SBS 2008 and configure Outlook 2000 clients

I need some guidance on configuring SBS2008 to allow IMAP to work with Outlook 2000. Outlook 2000 is not compatible with Exchnage 2007 so I need to IMAP.

Need some instrauction both on configuring Outlook 2000 and SBS 2008

Here's how to do it for SBS: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124489.aspx. NOte you also have to open a port in your firewall for 143 (IMAP) and 25 (SMTP).

On the exchange server start the imap service by typing the the following into EMS

set-service msexchangeimap4 -startuptype automatic
start-service -name msexchangeimap4

Also check that imap is enable on the mailbox goto properties of the mailbox then mailbox feature tabs and enable imap

In outlook goto tools the accounts and create an imap connection using your sbs server name when asked asked

It's going to work crappy, I would do everything to upgrade the outlook 2000 to a newer version.. If you got client licenses with your Exchange 2007- did it come with any outlook licenses?  Many of the outlook features aren't going to work correctly via IMAP.

i know, SBS2003 had free client, SBS2008 doesn't come with one - crap!

i got to download folders via IMAP but can't send yet

The default send connector Exchange console says it allows my local IPs send thru it

You may need to configure SMTP To allow this. This article describes how (it's about half way down): http://www.msexchange.org/articles_tutorials/exchange-server-2007/mobility-client-access/using-pop3-imap4-access-exchange-2007-part1.html

Outlook Express shows this errror as well 550 5.7.1 Client does not have permission to send as this sender
