SBS 2008 - Group Policy Management "The network name cannot be found"
Hi Experts,
I recently completed a migration of sbs 2003 to sbs 2008. Currently both are powered on domain controllers. I can still access and makes changes to the GPO's on the old DC server, however on the new sbs 2008 DC when I try to create a new GPO I get the following error:
"The network name cannot be found"
Any ideas?

seems that something went wrong with the domain migration, have you ran a dcdiag to diagnose the health of the AD ? if not can you run this and specify the errors it throws ?

Could be replication. Could be as simple as bad DNS entries.

I ran the analyzer. It can back with two DNS errors.
1. DNS A resource record points to incorrect IP address
"The host (A) record points to the incorrect IP address 192.168.1.250192.168.1.27. The record should point to 192.168.1.250
** .250 is the new server IP; .27 is the PPP adapter RAS interface

Also, I had both the old server and new server IP address configured for DNS. I changed it to just the local server and then ran the DCDIAG

The problem was related to the sysvol folder. However, I found the proper steps/reg edits to resolve the issue.
