URGENT - SBS 2008 not sending and receiving email

I have a SBS 2008 with exchange 2007 not receiving and sending email

This the error I see in the queue
451 4.4.0 primary target ip address responded with 421 4.2.1 unable to connect

Everything was working fine until this morning when my customer called to let me know he was not receiving any emails. After I did a test I see that he is not receiving any emails either.
The email that the users are trying to send are all in the queue

Please help.

ASKER

I meant to say that the users can't send any emails either.
check for any updates that were applied overnight, and uninstall to get back to how it was yesterday, check the firewall as well and that no port mapping on the firewall has been changed
I don't see any update that installed since August the 4th
you can ping the server internally?  externally?  have the mx records changed?  check the send connector to the internet - are you using dns or smarthost?
MX records have not changed and yes I can ping server internally and externally

Using smart host from DNS Made easy
have you rebooted the server?
have you contacted the smart host provider to see if they are seeing the emails that you are sending?
no reboot yet...I have 6 users active on a ERP system database that resides on the server.

Do you have any antispam or antivirus software running on these servers?
This sounds like a DNS issue. Are you using forwarders on your SBS server in the DNS settings?  If so, I would recommend removing the forwarders (you do not actually need them) and see if that resolves the issue.
no...just an untangle firewall that does the spam filtering and virus blocking
So you have resolved the issue on your own?

OK - it's good that you got it working again at any rate.  Cheers!
I' have been monitoring the server and it is working fine now. Now sure what the problem was.
Problem solved with rebooting
