SBS 2003 to 2011 Migration - Migration Preparation Tool problem
I am trying to migrate a server from SBS 2003 to SBS 2011. All was going well untill I tried to run the Migration Prep Tool, and this is what I got:
"Windows sbs 2011 standard migration preparation tools has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for any inconvenience.
If you were in the middle of something, the information you were working on might be lost"
I get the option to select 'Close' and that's it.
Any ideas please?

We have a very thorough guide for this migration here:

Check into the prep steps and make sure everything is clean before running the Prep Tool. Journal Wrap can cause this problem.

There are a number of checks that need to be done before running the Tool.
Are you able to run AdPrep /ForestPrep and AdPrep /DomainPrep from an elevated command prompt on SBS 2003? You can use a 2008 R2 disk to run the command.
Did you check that the Domain Admin account is set to Domain Users for default group?
What does the Tool log say as cause for failure?
