How do I get clients out of a query based collection?

Asked by SullivanMIS in MS System Center

Tags: , , ,

I have an SMS collection based on a query for a group membership in AD.  When I remove workstation from the AD group, it remains a member of the SMS collection.  I have tried the "update collection membership" and collection is set to update every 20 minutes. I have also forced my discovery methods to "Run discovery as soon as possible".  Shouldn't a query based collection be dynamic?

This is an issue if a machine is re-imaged and given to another user that should not use the same software as the previous user.  It is a standard practice in our environment to assign the serial number as the machine name (Like a Dell service tag) to track location of resources, so any given workstation will get the same name for it's life on our network.
