Problem connecting with remote tools.

Alright I had asked a similar question before, but I have since delved in a bit further so I figure a new question is order.

Here is my scenario:
I have SCCM 2007 running just fine, with all client agents configured to best practices recommendations.
We have a few client machines that are running an older version of the SMS client, from our pilot program when we ran SMS 2003. The older client version is: 2.50.4253.3000
Most of our clients are running the newer SCCM 2007 client version: 4.00.5931.0001
In both cases all of the client agents are installed and enabled.
I have punched the appropriate holes in the firewalls on both systems; TCP ports 2701, 2702 and 3389 for RDP.
All of our clients are XP SP2 machines.
Now is the question part: I can connect to the older version clients without issue. The new clients I can only connect to if the firewall is turned off; even with the exceptions made if the firewall is on I cannot connect to the client.
Ideas?
