Windows 2003 Server - File Sharing Peformance

I have the following system:
Windows 2003 Server Standard Edition
20 users
single pentium 4 2.33 Ghz
4 GB Ram
Sql Server 2000
Also runs DHCP, DNS, PDC, Printer Sharing

I added 2GB of ram last night and I have slow performance from users trying toaccess files.  I review performance via task manager and it does have spikes but not for very long.

I am wondering if there are any settings I can change to allow more connections, greater throughput for the clients attaching.

The performance on the server itself has significantly improved after adding the 2 GB of RAM to a total of 4GB of ram.

Is the SQL access slow, or access to file share slow or both?

The application that uses the SQL appears to be ok.  How can I tell if it is slow.

I can tell you that when we tried to pull up a word document from a share drive this morning it took a long time.

Sometimes in the application it takes a while to "write" a new patient in the application. I am not sure if this is SQL, file share or both.

The bottleneck is probably your storage system. What kind of hard drives are you using? RAID?

Yes, we are using a SCSI RAID controller with three 80 GB drives (raid 5).  I am looking into update drivers and downloading the adaptec software to view and "manage" the Adaptec 2610sa controller.

I am also getting an event in event log.  It was initially an error and now it is a warning.  See below.

It appears Adaptec does NOT provide drivers for this product because it is OEM.  Dell claims they don't have anything and search enginges keep pointing me to Adaptec.  

I did manage to load a Adaptec Manager for the RAID.

I am going to close this case.

Dell sent me a note and stated that they did have drivers and located them for me.  I have not updated this server and am reluctant because this is a critical server with no backup and no test systems.
